Adding a product

How to add a product to your store

Updated this week

You can sell any physical products in your store, such as clothing, food, toys, vehicles, or customizable items that customers can personalize.

You can manage products in Products > Add product.

Adding a product

To add a new product, click the Add product button.

Digital products, product bundles, and gift card products can be added via the smaller Add button on the left.

Essential information

You can add a wide range of details for each product. At a minimum, include the product’s name, description, images, price, and classification.

From Grouping section, you can select a product class. It’s recommended to assign a product class to every product. Using product classes allows you to easily add features that activate filters in your store’s product listings.

A product can be assigned to one or more product groups. Assigning a product to multiple groups allows you to create collections such as Dresses, Summer, Weekly Deals, or Under $100 in your store.

Information for search engines

When optimizing for search engines, focus on the product name, descriptions, and search engine settings.

The red or green dot next to the fields indicates whether the text length meets Google’s recommendations.

Product images

Images convey more than words, so it's important to prioritize quality and quantity. Upload the largest version of the image available; the system will automatically resize it to the appropriate dimensions (read best practices).

Use the Add image button to upload images from your computer. From the Select link, you can add videos or choose previously uploaded images from the file browser.

The largest image becomes the product’s main image. Drag and drop another image into the main image slot to change it.

Pricing

Set the product's price. From the pricing section, you can also manage price history, set a cost price, and add discounts.

Inventory

You can set inventory levels for products, although it is not mandatory. If no inventory is set, the product is assumed to have unlimited stock. The inventory section also allows you to add barcodes and other related information.

Features

You can assign predefined features to a product. It's recommended to first assign a product class to receive relevant feature suggestions.

Based on the added features, you can activate automatic filters in your store’s product listings. Features also serve as a foundation for creating product options.

Options

Options allow you to add variations to a product, such as color, size, and material. Variations are automatically created upon the first product save.

Options can be added before the first product save and later by copying the product to create a new one. When options are added, and the product is saved, some details will move under the variations for editing.

Cross-selling

Cross-selling links products together to display them in the store.

  • Related product: A product often purchased with the main product (e.g., a phone case for a phone).

  • Similar product: A product with comparable features (e.g., another phone with similar specifications).

  • Compatible product: A product that works with the main product (e.g., a phone charger).

Linked products appear in the product card like variations, making them useful for presenting a group of related items. This can be particularly helpful when product details through options alone are too limited.

Customizations

Customizations allow you to add dropdown menus, checkboxes, and text fields to a product. These options let customers personalize a product to their needs. Customizations are useful for selling products like engraved items, printed items, or build-your-own kits.
