The product class and attributes define what type of product it is and what features it includes. Based on attributes, you can create different variations of a product and activate filters for product listings in your online store.
You can find these options under Products > Add Product in the admin panel.
Product class
The product class is based on a predefined taxonomy and includes thousands of classifications to choose from. For example, by searching for t-shirts, you can specify the intended purpose of the t-shirt in more detail. The classes have been translated from English to different languages with the help of AI.
If your search does not yield results, try changing between singular/plural forms or using synonyms. For instance, searching for t-shirt might not work, but searching for t-shirts will.
Saved product classes
Once you add a product class, it will be saved in the dropdown menu, allowing you to conveniently select it for future products.
Attributes
Attributes describe the various features of a product. By first assigning a product class to a product, you will receive suggestions for attributes that suit the specific product. You can then easily select the appropriate options from the suggested list.
Color attribute
Search for a color from the predefined list. If needed, you can edit a color by clicking the Edit button or add a new color by selecting the Add Option button.
In the online store, customers can filter products based on these colors, provided filters are enabled and the theme supports this attribute.
Size attribute
There are many sizes available, which can best be found using the search. For example, searching for "4" will display all sizes containing the number 4.
If needed, you can edit the size text using the Edit button or add a new size using the Add Option button.

A completed list of product attributes might look like this:
Variations from attributes
Attributes allow you to create product variations, such as color and size. Variations are automatically created when the product is saved for the first time.

Benefits of classification
Filters
By activating filters in your online store's product listings, you help customers find products more easily.
Google and Meta
In product feeds, classification data refines the product type. Classification allows you to better utilize Google and Meta services.
Artificial intelligence
AI is transforming how products are searched for online. It is likely that personal AI assistants will first filter and search for products before recommending only the most suitable ones to customers.
Product class and attributes are crucial because they indicate who the product is for and its intended purpose, enabling AI assistants to recommend products from your store effectively.
