What are variants?

Variants allow you to easily create several different variants of a product. Typically, variants are used, for example, when a product can be purchased in different sizes, colors, or flavors.

Adding variants

You can add new variants to new products in the following way:

  1. Start adding a new product by going to Products > Add product.

  2. Note: Do not save the product before you have added a variant.

  3. Fill in the basic information of the product, such as name and price.

  4. Click on the Create a new option link in the Options section.

  5. You can add an option based on product classes or create your own option (read more below in the Option type section).

  6. Click Confirm.

  7. Choose different options from the Values menu.

  8. Click the Done button.

  9. Save the product.

Option Type

When adding an option to a product, you can choose from the following options:

  • "Add attribute as option" is based on product categorization. Categorization includes a wide range of product categories and their attributes. We recommend using this option because in most cases, it improves product discoverability compared to creating your own options.

  • "Create custom option" allows you to define the name of the option and its different choices yourself.

Adding variations to previously created products

Variations can also be added to previously created products by copying the product. However, it's important to check the product's URL after the copying that it's not changed. Copying also removes the product's stock amount and its history.

Multiple variants in the same product

The system automatically combines different variants with each other. If you add, for example, color and size variants to the same product, the system will create combinations such as "Red / S", "Red / M", or "Blue / S".

Editing variant information

Once you have added variants to a product, you can edit the information of each variant separately by clicking the Edit button next to it.

Each variant can include, among others, the following information:

  • Status (published / demonstration / hidden)

  • Image

  • Barcode (gtin, ean, upc, isbn)

  • Product identifier (model number)

  • Unit (pcs, kg, etc.)

  • Price (selling price / purchase price / discounts)

  • Stock details (stock amount, sku, purchase price, shelf number)

  • Customizations

  • Weight and dimensions
