Verifying methods

You can do the verification by using one of the following methods:

  • Add a TXT record to your domain

  • Upload the HTML file to your server

  • Add a META tag to the source code of your domain

You can find more detailed instructions for these methods on the Facebook support page.

Verification

With an HTML-file

First, upload the HTML file to your device following the instructions on the Facebook support page. Once the file is on your device, you can upload it to your online store by following the instructions below.

  1. Click Add and select the HTML file from your device and upload it to the store.

  2. Once the file is uploaded, click the Confirm button on Facebook.

Note: Do not edit or rename the HTML file on your device

With a meta tag

You can also validate your domain name with a meta tag that looks this:

<meta name="facebook-domain-verification" content="abcdefghjiklm123456" />

Note: The code above is just an example. The content section is unique for each domain.

You can add a META tag to your domain as follows:

  2. A name and a content field appear on the page.

  3. Add text facebook-domain-verification in the Name field.

  4. In the Content field, add the content section. Copy only the text in the content="... section. Don't copy the quotation marks.

  5. Click Save.

  6. Once the META tag is added, click the Confirm button on Facebook.
