Connecting Google Analytics

Connect your store to Google Analytics 4 in a few steps.

With the Google app, you can connect your Finqu store to Google Analytics so you can see visitor numbers and sales in Google's reports.

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is enough for most stores. If you already use Google Tag Manager, see the Connecting Google Tag Manager guide instead.

1. Get your measurement ID from Google Analytics

Open Google Analytics and go to Admin → Data collection and modification → Data streams. Select the Web tab and click your web data stream. Copy the Measurement ID, which looks like G-XXXXXXXXXX.

2. Install the Google app

  1. Go to Online store → Settings → Analytics.

  2. Find the Google section and click Install app.

  3. Confirm the installation in the panel that opens on the right.

  4. Click Authorize so the app can access your Finqu account data.

If the app is already installed, you'll find its settings under Online store → Settings → Analytics → Google.

3. Add the measurement ID to your store

  1. In the Google app settings, set Tracking mode to Google Analytics 4 (GA4).

  2. Paste the measurement ID into the Google Analytics 4 measurement ID field.

  3. Save your changes.

4. Check that data is coming in

Open your store in another browser tab, then go to Reports → Realtime in Google Analytics. Your own visit should appear there within a few minutes.

Google Ads conversion tracking (optional)

If you advertise on Google Ads, you can also track important events as conversions. These settings are only shown when Tracking mode is Google Analytics 4 (GA4).

  1. In Google Ads, go to Goals → Conversions → Summary, click a conversion action and choose Use Google Tag Manager under Tag setup to see its Conversion ID and Conversion label.

  2. Enter the ID in the Google Ads conversion ID field, in the format AW-XXXXXXXXX.

  3. Below it, you can optionally add conversion labels for the events Purchase, Add to cart, Begin checkout and Lead / newsletter.

  4. Save your changes.

Good to know: The latest themes send store events (such as add to cart and purchases) to Google automatically.

For advanced users: debug mode

Debug mode is meant for advertising and analytics specialists who want to make sure tracking works. To turn it on, go to Online store → Settings → Snippets: add a new JavaScript field, set its type to "Essential for the store to function", paste the code below into it and save from the top right. The browser console will then show, among other things, the active tracking mode, measurement IDs and the events being sent.
