About Menus in Your Online Store

How to use various menus in your online store.

Updated this week

Menus help customers move around your store. They can appear in the header, footer, sidebar, or within content areas. You can use menus in many ways depending on your store’s needs. Below, we’ll go through the options in more detail.

You can find menus in management > Online Store > Navigation.

Single-Level Menu

In a single-level menu, all items are on the main level, with no sub-levels. This type of menu can be used anywhere in the store.

Multi-Level Menu

A multi-level menu organizes items across multiple levels. You can add up to three sub-levels under each main level item. This allows the menu to open one level at a time in the store and is suitable for use in the header and mega menu.

Mega Menu

A mega menu can include a menu + images or only one of these elements. In the sample images below, the first shows a menu + images, while the second shows only images without a menu.

The mega menu is built from two elements: a menu created through Navigation and the mega menu feature in the theme, where the selected menu + images are enabled. See detailed instructions.

Product Category Menu in the Sidebar

In the sidebar of the product category page, you can add a menu containing only product categories to speed up browsing. This menu is especially useful when there are many categories and customers frequently browse them while shopping.

The menu is built by adding only product categories that contain products. Product categories are grouped into suitable collections, and customers can browse one level at a time in the store.

The menu is enabled in the theme editor under the product category page settings.

Link List in Store Content

You can also use menus within the store content. Through the theme editor, you can add a link list to any page - for example, for manufacturers, pages, product categories, or any other items.
