Activating the payment method
Kustom Checkout is pre-installed as the default payment method in your store. You can monitor the activation process from Online store > Payment methods.
Activation typically takes from a few days to a week. Once Kustom has activated the payment method, they will request additional information about your business. You can provide those details from Online store > Payment methods when the time comes. Kustom will notify you separately when it's needed.
If needed, you can also visit the Kustom portal at https://portal.kustom.co/ to check that everything is in order.
If you’ve previously used a different payment method in your store, Kustom may no longer be active. In that case, you will need to reorder the service by following the instructions on the payment methods page.
Check that it works
After adding the payment method, the final step is to make sure it works. Go to your store, add a product to the cart, proceed to checkout, and complete the payment. The payment method is working properly if the payment succeeds and you're redirected back to the store.
Tip for testing: You can create a test product to check the process. After the payment, you can refund the amount in Kustom’s portal.
Automated payment processing
Kustom Checkout automates the entire payment flow in your store. You don’t need to manually verify payments or handle refunds when customers return products. With Kustom Checkout, all transactions are processed automatically, and payouts are securely transferred to your company’s bank account.
Kustom app features
You’ll find the app in your store admin under > Top right corner > Apps > Kustom > Open.
Under the Functions menu, you’ll find the following options:
View account details – shows your Kustom account information.
Order new credentials – request new credentials for Kustom Checkout if it isn’t working properly. The credentials are updated automatically in the background. They won’t be sent to you and don’t need to be manually entered.
Reinstall payment method – reinstall Kustom Checkout if it isn’t functioning correctly.
Restart setup – restart the entire Kustom Checkout onboarding process if your previous application was declined.
Once activation is complete, you’ll also see a Kustom Merchant Portal button on the app page, which takes you to the Kustom Merchant Portal. There, you'll find detailed information about your Kustom account, payments, and payouts.
Limitations on using other payment methods
Kustom Checkout has limitations when used alongside other payment methods. The following can be used in parallel:
Gift cards
Paypal
Other payment methods, such as the merchant’s own invoice or payment on delivery, unfortunately cannot be used at the same time with Kustom Checkout.
