Getting to Know the Theme Editor

How to customize your online store's theme

Updated this week

The theme editor includes tools for building page content, customizing colors, and adjusting theme settings, styles, and everything else. Essentially, the theme defines everything visible to the customer.

You can find the theme editor in Online Store > Select Theme > Edit.

The following instructions apply to using the editor on a computer. The mobile view has the same functions, but they may be located in different places.

Editing Pages

To edit pages, start by selecting a page. You can choose a pre-made page from the list or find a custom page under the drop-down menu by selecting Choose by Page.

Pages are built with sections stacked vertically. For detailed instructions on using and editing sections, refer to the specific guides below:

  1. Sections: Product Lists and Carousels

  2. Sections: Ad Collages

  3. Sections: Hero Banners

  4. Sections: Image and Text

  5. Sections: Contact Information and Contact Form

  6. Sections: Reviews and Testimonials

Previewing

Preview the edited theme version by going to Theme > Preview.

You can make edits freely, as the version under editing won’t be publicly visible until it is saved.

Publishing or Discarding Changes

The Save button will appear highlighted when there are unsaved changes. You can publish the changes to your store by clicking the Save button.

Before saving, you can also discard changes. Go back one change at a time with the left-facing arrow or discard all changes back to the previous saved version with the Draft button.

Settings

Theme settings can be accessed via the gear ⚙️ button.

In the menu, you’ll find settings for colors, text, general settings, social media, and marketing.

Please note that different themes may have different features, and these instructions may not apply to all themes.
