Finqu's Gift Cards feature allows you to sell gift cards to your customers and accept gift card payments.

Gift cards in Finqu

In Finqu, you can sell gift cards to your customers and accept payments with a gift card. The system generates a gift card code when a gift card is purchased. This code is sent to the customer. Finally, the gift recipient can pay by entering the code at the online checkout.

✔️ Good to know

A gift card must always be sold before it can be used for payment. Gift cards can be created manually in Finqu's administration, but they will only work once sold.

How to add gift cards for sale

You can add new gift cards for sale in the Products section. Start by clicking Add > Add Gift Card.

Gift card products contain much of the same information as other products. In addition to these, the following information should be filled in for the gift card:

  • The balance of the gift card can be used only for a single purchase - this switch allows you to choose whether the customer can use it for multiple orders or just one.

  • You can set an expiry date in the Gift Card Validity Period in Days -field. The expiry date is calculated from the purchase date of the gift card.

✔️ Gift card value and product customizations

The value of the gift card is defined in the Price field. Any additional prices on product customizations will not affect the value of the gift card.

Delivering gift cards

When a customer purchases a gift card from your online store, you can deliver it traditionally by mail or use an automated gift card email.

You can set up a gift card email as follows:

  1. Turn on the Gift card message.

  2. Click Save.

If you deliver the gift card in any other way (e.g., by letter), you will need the gift card code. You will see the code under the product name in the order, which you can copy, e.g., on the card/letter you are sending to the customer.

Gift card payment method

To receive gift card payments, you must add a gift card payment method to your online store as follows:

  1. Fill in the payment method's details.

  2. Click Save.

Monitoring gift card sales

You can track your gift card usage in the Sales > Gift Cards section. From this page, you can see whether or not the customer has used the gift card and whether or not there is any value left on the gift card.

You can also print a report on gift cards in the Analytics section.

To view orders paid with gift cards, follow these steps: First, go to the Sales section. Then, select "Payment Method" from the filters. A new menu will appear where you can choose "Gift Card" as the payment method. Finally, click the "Search" button on the right to find the orders.

Frequently asked questions about Gift Cards

Why has the balance of the gift card been reset to zero, even though the customer has not placed an order?

The balance of the gift card is reserved when the customer adds the gift card to their shopping cart. If the customer has several shopping carts, it is possible that their gift card is stuck in another order. If the customer has difficulty using the gift card, it is worth checking the balance of the gift card and that he has not created several shopping carts. Shopping carts can be seen under Sales > Shopping carts. From there you can open the shopping cart and, if necessary, edit the gift card out of the shopping cart or reject the shopping cart.
