How to succeed in email marketing

Learn how to craft powerful newsletters and boost your email marketing in 5 simple steps.

Updated this week

Email marketing is one of the most effective ways to reach customers, increase sales, and strengthen customer relationships. To ensure your messages don't end up in the spam folder and achieve the best possible results, follow these tips:

1. Send only to recipients who have given consent

Send emails only to recipients who have given their permission for marketing. This not only complies with data protection laws like the GDPR but also improves open rates and reduces the risk of your messages being flagged as spam.

2. Provide value in every message

Don’t send emails just for the sake of it. Make sure each message offers something useful, such as:

✔️ Exclusive discounts or offers
✔️ News about new products or services
✔️ Helpful tips and inspiration
✔️ Important updates about orders or customer service

3. Use a clear and compelling subject line

The subject line should grab attention and clearly communicate the content of the message. Avoid excessive use of exclamation marks and capital letters, as they may trigger spam filters.

Good subject lines:
✅ "An exclusive deal for you – 20% off today!"
✅ "5 tips to get more out of your product"
✅ "New arrivals are here! Discover the season’s favorites"

Avoid:
❌ "FREE OFFER!!! BUY NOW!!!"
❌ "ORDER IMMEDIATELY OR MISS OUT ON A HUGE DEAL!!!"

4. Add direct links to products and categories

Most emails are read on mobile devices. Make sure your message is easy to read and includes a clear call to action like “Shop now,” “Read more,” or “View products.”

5. Don’t send too frequently

Sending emails too often can annoy customers and increase unsubscribes. A good pace depends on the industry, but generally 1–4 emails per month is enough to keep customers interested without overwhelming them.

These five tips will help you succeed in email marketing.
