Adding a return policy to products

To make it easy to enable your online store’s cancellation feature, it is recommended to add return policies to your products in advance. A return policy defines the product’s return period in days.

Adding a return policy

If you have not previously added return policies to your online store, first create one or more return policies in the general settings:

  1. Open the menu in the top right corner.

  2. Select Global settings.

  3. Select Return policies: Edit.

  4. Click Add return policy.

  5. Enter a name for the return policy, for example 14 days.

  6. Set the return period in days, for example 14.

  7. Add separate country-specific return periods if needed.

  8. Select Set as default if you want this return policy to be automatically applied to new products in the future.

  9. Click Save.

Applying a return policy to products

Once the return policy has been added, you can select it in an individual product’s details or apply it to multiple products at once using the bulk action.

First, return to your online store admin by selecting the online store from the menu in the top right corner.

Then:

  1. Go to Products.

  2. Select products using the checkboxes. The top checkbox lets you select all products shown on the page at once.

  3. Click Bulk actions → Return policy.

  4. Select the return policy you want from the menu and click Confirm.

  5. The system will add the selected return policy to all chosen products.

Please note when using the bulk action

The Products section is paginated and shows 100 products at a time. The bulk action can only be used one page at a time. If you have more products, you can move to the next pages from the bottom of the page and continue adding return policies there.

Tip: filter products that do not yet have a return policy

If you have a lot of products, you can make the task easier by filtering the list to show only products that do not yet have a return policy assigned.

Do this:

  1. Go to Products.

  2. Open the filters from the left side of the search field.

  3. Select Return policy from the filters.

  4. A new menu will appear above the product list, where you can choose Not set.

  5. Click the magnifying glass icon on the right side of the search field to run the search.

  6. The page will then show the products that do not yet have a return policy assigned.

  7. You can save the search by clicking the bookmark icon on the right edge of the search field.

  8. The saved search will then appear as its own tab above the product list, making it easy to find products that are still missing a return policy.
